Default properly seating headlight bulbs??

ok so i tried replacing my headlight bulbs (halogen) but i dont think ive got them in all the way. i know the h7 style is just supposed to clip in sorta but is there a trick to get it in all the way? i put the bottom part in but i can see thru the front of the headlight that the top is not fully seating/touching the housing. i think ive got the low beams adjusted but i can see a weird pattern from the high beams. any suggestions on getting the bulbs all the way/aligned properly?

They are SUPER tight getting them to snap in and you have to get the lower clip seated and push the upper clips in. I had a really hard time with them until I found this diagram (look at the third one down) of the spring clips.

I was actually so rough on the first bulb I tried that it went out in about a week. Replaced it again, knew what I was doing and was gentler and more careful not to touch the glass, and that one has lasted.

ok great, so if i understand correctly, there are three clips to hold the bulb in? any special tricks or tools that help? i tried pushing on the metal base with a tiny screwdriver but couldnt get any improvement. ill try again with some rubber gloves on and see what i can do. why does this have to be such a pain in the ***?!

Are you trying to push all three clips in at once? Once I got the bottom one to line up and angled the base so it was latched in, the top two went in pretty easy (at that point, it's just pivoting it using the bottom clip as a pivot point). Beyond that, I can only say that once you do it once, it's easier.

ok i give up. i pushed hard enough to pop the reflector off its posts and thought i broke it for real. i tried pushing the clips and everything i could think of, so i guess it will just have to be good enough. the bulbs dont seem to move or vibrate as it is
