Default Roof rack

I'm thinking of getting a Thule roof rack to drag a kayak around. My question is about tying the kayak down. Does anyone have suggestions of where a good tiedown point is on the car for the bow and stern kayak straps or lines. The rear of the car has the tow hook loop, but I don't know what to do about the front of the car. Any suggestions for both the front and rear would be helpful.

Install the front tow hook just for kayak hauling? Just a thought.

You can loop it under back to the front of the roof rack.

Thanks for the suggestions. I actually thought of installing the front tow hook, but with my luck, that's when I would rearend someone and cause even more damage to the car.

I would get the hook to be safe. I had a rack and basket I always kept on my gti. Not having a truck it was nessicary to haul anything big. You will enjoy it. They do have a good amount of wind noise.

Now I just have to get over the sticker shock of the rack, kayak, and related gear.

I was just considering doing the same thing! Where have you been pricing your Thule rack out at?

REI has a 20% off sale on Thule every Labor Day weekend, there is a bike shop near me that sells Thule gear about 10% less than list every day. They can order everything. There are some online sites, that sell at about 15% off, but I can't remember what they are.

Been a bad couple of weeks for my Audi. Two weeks ago a drunken angry hockey fan ripped my driverside mirror off, and Just a couple days ago, someone scraped the side of the rear bumper as they were pulling in or out of a parking spot. State Farm's been decent about all of this at least.
