Starting Issues - TCM?

I have a 2005.5 A4 2.0T that I just purchased preowned in April '08. Car was great until 2 months ago.

I would go to start the car and the key turns all the way over but there is no engine response. All the lights lit up, but no engine. Everytime it has happened, I've had to wait between 15-30 minutes before trying again and I've always gotten the car to start eventually. I've narrowed the malfunction down to when the car was warm and cooling and I tried to start it again.

Audi has had the car now for 5 weeks. They replaced the starter and the battery and it still malfunctioned. Just today they said that they verified there is a TCM short, so they are ordering the part to replace, but everything I read about other TCM issues sound nothing like this.

I love the car and want it back fixed, but I'm afraid they are just trying to get rid of me at this point by telling me they found something wrong. Do my issues sound consistent with a TCM malfunction?

Similar story here. I bought my A4 3 DAYS ago! Today the engine was warm and cooling down and I tried to start it back up... battery cranked away but no engine response.

Gas tank is full and I jumped it just in case, but with no luck.

Any further ideas/advice?

Heck of a welcome to audi ownership.

weird, could be bum spark plugs but all of em? idk if it was running fine then it wasn;t then idk what to tell you

were u running the car hard and then tried to start it up or just a regualr day of driving?

I had been driving normally. At this point I'm guessing it's the fuel pump or filter. She's at the dealership. :(

2007 a4

I have a 2007 audi a4 and i had the same exact issue. I went to get my hair cut and left my gf in the car. After a while she shut the car off. After about 5 minutes of it being off i came back out and it would not start. It was turning over perfectly but would not start. I had time to call a tow truck and wait around for it and suddenly it started. The dealer looked at it and said they could not duplicate the problem. It's only happened once so far but sounds like its a common problem when the car is warm and begins to cool. Strange.
