With that method of install for the iphone are you able to control it from the steering wheel controls as well when in ipod UI or is it just adding the text to the MFD?

I have not installed it yet, so I cant give you a first hand answer. However, there is a YouTube that shows how the system works . I'll post a link later.

Because I am "That Guy", I did a dry run install in the parking lot at work, attaching everything except for the by pass wires to the sat module in the trunk. Display worked, music played, but no sound.

I called Enfig and talked to Christian. Asked him why there was no sound, and explained what I had done. He said that without plugging the wires into the harnes, neither the sat nor ipod would give sound.

This weekend when I do the complete install, I will be ready to go.

I can't say enough good things about Enfig right now. One of the install guides was missing, and Christian emailed the missing page right to me. Awesomome.

The parts I skipped during the dry run:
Running the satpass cable to sat module:

Cracked a black ipa and installed tonight. Took 1 hour and 15 minutes. Most of that time was running the wire from unit to sat module for sat pass.

A couple of observations:

1 The video for the specdock install shows drilling a 1/2" hole in ashtray. This has changed as the end of cable has a female ipod end to it now. Using a dremel with a cutting attachment, I cut a slot in bottom of ashtray to fit the end through.

2. This is worth it.. Nice clean finish, even wife was impressed with fit and finish.

No step by step for this one, videos do a great job showing what needs to be done!

I like this mod. however, I think I'm going to buy a 160gb iPod to dedicate to the car....
