Default Timing belt + Engine Oil

Hi I've got a 2007 Audi A4 2.0T Quattro and I was wondering what the recommended miles are to do the timing belt? I did the timing belt at 104K miles on my 01 A6 2.7T, but figured that these are obviously different years and engines, there must be a different recommendation.

Also what Motor oil Viscosity is everyone using in there engines, specifically in colder climates? From Wisconsin which gets rather cold. I always used 5W-30 Mobile 1 on the 01 A6 2.7TT, again seeing as how they're different engines, I figured I would ask before I do my first oil change on the A4.

EDIT:
Just remembered one more thing. On cold starts I have this squealing noise. It sounds a lot like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMSfJ7zn67o

I'll get a video of what mine sounds like tomorrow...

thanks.

You used the wrong oil in your A6; the only Mobil 1 generally available here in the U.S. which is certified for either of your cars is Mobil 0W-40.

Castrol syntec 5W-40, I live in cold climate weather and use this all year round (meets spec), as far as interval it is recommended TB at 110mi/170KM, I just did mine at 155Km and it was due so I wouldn't push it to the limit, I would have done it a little bit sooner but I was waiting on getting the parts..

eric is right about the interval for the timing belt.

as for the squeak, mine used to do that for 3 years and only on cold starts. once the engine gets warm it goes away. i brought it into the dealership after putting up with the squeaking for 3 years and they changed every pulley and the belt. it turned out to be the tensioner. they fixed it for free, under warranty and it has worked fine since.

That's sound exactly like my issue. Once my engine warms up, the squeak is no longer heard.

I always thought it was 5W-30, at least that's what the dealership here used on my first oil change. I did it myself afterwards and just figured I would use the same viscosity.

Guess i'll be using 5W-40 then as you all seem to recommend that.

Here's the video I made. Sorry for the ridiculous amounts of camera movement....

Thanks guys!

The timing belt depending on which version of the maintenance schedule you see, should be replaced at either 110,000 miles or 115,000 miles. There was a misprint in the owners manual that originally said 75,000 miles in the 2006 manuals. Yep, Castrol 5w40 is what you need for the 2.0t. The turbo runs hotter, and needs the extra protection of the 40 weight oil. It's additives don't break down as easily at higher temperatures.

You're right about the 5w40 being the right viscosity but it's not "40 weight oil". The "W" stands for winter, not weight.

Mobil 1 still makes 5w40, but it's listed as turbo diesel truck oil. It's still okay to use. Lots of guys use Shell Rotella T6 synthetic 5w40. When on sale its about $20 for a 5+ quart jug. Great price and people rave about it on lots of different forums (e.g. audizine, iwsti, etc.)

This correct?

Any idea on the cold start sound?

Thanks!

Yup, that's the stuff; I run it in my son's 1998 A4 2.8.
