Timing Belt and Thermostat
Hi Guys , 2006 A4 2.0 w/ 104K. A local shop quoted me 1400 for a Timing belt and Thermostat. Does this sound right ? Also if anyone is in the Northern Virginia area , can you recommend a mechanic. Thanks!
Sounds like it's in the right ballpark if it's timing belt, water pump, and tensioner replacement + thermostat. My local independent shop said it was about $1200 for just the timing belt job (including water pump, etc). So to get the t-stat added on for about $200 sounds pretty good.
i got the kit with everything including the thermostat, water pump, all the fluids and assorted bolts from europaparts and did it myself. im just a backyard tinkerer and i was able to do it just following the how-tos on here and a couple other places.
i dont know if you know anyone who would want to lend you a wrench or two but id say its a day long job for two car people. i paid about $750 and had a fair amount of fun along with some bloody knuckles of course
fwiw
