Transmission dashboard blinking
 

My engine light has been on/off for over the past month and yesterday my transmission section on the computer was blinking on the way home, on my way to work this morning it shut off half the way there. I did research and people have said it is the transmission control module. I question if it needs to be repaired or something is loose/dirty because the engine light goes on/off from time to time. just dont want to spend alot of $$ diagnosing at the shop...

I registered just to reply to this. I dealt with this same thing on my 2006 A4. It's 95% the TCM. Take it into an Autozone or similar and have them check the ODB codes. Then google the codes they give you, it should come up with saying the TCM is faulty. Then, take it into your local Audi dealer, they'll fix it for free, even if you're out of warranty. There was a class action lawsuit earlier this year, Audi is covering all parts and labor for this issue. If you can, have them order the part first and then bring in your car. My local dealer had me leave my car for a couple days while they waited for the part to arrive. Once the part gets there, it only takes a couple hours to fix.
