Default turbo going bad, leaking oil internally?

2008 A4 2.0T 121xxx miles quattro
I'll try to explain briefly whats happening with my car. A few months ago, it started to blow massive clouds of white smoke out the exhaust (i havent driven it since august). It started out small but got worse. There is oil collecting in the bottom of the intercoolers. I think the smoke is actually coming from the oil getting pushed into the intake air charge, the smoking is kinda random, but involves a huge lose in power. I did clean the intercooler pipes a few times and it seemed to help. At its worst, I 'lost' a quart of oil in 1hour of driving. I have replaced the valve cover and gasket, the pcv valve and gasket, and spark plugs. Head gasket seems fine, no coolant leaks. Compression seems ok, around 200 psi in each cylinder. Last time I checked with the Torque app and obdII reader it was making boost and I've never had a CEL for boost leak or anything. No other CELs and it seems to drive normal, until it coughs up a lung.
So I think its the turbo, right? Can anyone explain how the turbo would leak so much into the intercooler? Anything other ideas besides the turbo? Options for rebuilding or replacing oil lines?

Thanks

Anyone experience similar symptoms that were fixed by a turbo replacement?

The white smoke throws me a bit. Usually when oil burns it is blue/black. I do know that as the turbo wears oil consumption goes up. Mine has been dying for a few years now and occasionally I feel the loss in power, and I nice plum of blue smoke to go with it. Usually it is under heavy acceleration. With 228k on mine I am not surprised though. I do agree with you. I would think the turbo is starting to fail. I know you can get them rebuilt from certain shops around the country. You send them your turbo and they replace or repair the guts. It is a lot cheaper that a new unit.

Yea that's what everyone says about the white smoke. I see white, no color to it as far as I can tell.
It blows a small puff when starting, I can use my remote starter and watch the exhaust.
I can't think of any other stuff that would be burning off.
I wish I had the ability to replace it myself LOL. I don't mind buying a reman. unit but I don't have the space or skill to do it myself, so I'm trying to get some labor quotes. Don't wanna waste time and money if its not the turbo. hopefully, thats the only issue LOL
Thanks!
