I think part of the reason my brake dust was proving so hard to get off of the wheels (esp with just water pressure) is because I have to use those drive-through gas station car washes most of the time and they "wax" the dirt on the wheels.. so I was having a really hard time getting them clean. (Car washes in DC are pretty horrid/expensive, hence using the gas station ones).
