As per the guy I talked to the last time I was dropping off oil, if you let the filter drain for at least 24 hours, you can simply throw it in the trash...might want to google that one though...

i didnt drain my oil filter. since i dont know what to do with them i just put them back into the oil filter box and put them in a plastic bag. today i check the plastic bag, inside the plastic bag has oil all over place, that is not good.........i'll definately make sure it will get disposal properly.

that link has a number which i can call my local EPA to find out what should i do with my oil filter.
