011 Audi A4 Premium Sedan 2.0T Quattro Automatic4 With 125k. Yes or No?
 

I'm looking for a used car to get me through a year or two. I'm buying a house soon and don't want to ding my credit. I've driven a lot of cars in my day. Everything from a Honda Crosstour, Honda Accord, BMW x3, Fiat 500 Sport, Nissan Pathfinder, and Toyota Land Cruiser. But they were always new.

My question is this: a friend said he will sell me his 2011 Audi A4 Premium Sedan 2.0T Quattro Automatic4. He bought as a pre-owned car from the dealer

The owner before him was hit the rear and he himself got into an accident in the front (but the damage was minor). I looked into these accidents and they were pretty minor. He has kept it well maintained and has never had any major expenses or had to replace parts. He will sell it to me for a very good price (around 7k).

My hesitation is that it has 125k on it. I'm guessing that if he hasn't replaced any parts, then I will be the one to do it. The carfax doesn't show timing belt replacement. And I know that these A4s have oil consumption problems. I see the car had an oil consumption test at around 40k miles, but not since then. I'd obviously have it inspected by a 3rd party mechanic first. But before I waste my time, is this car ok to buy?

2011 didn't have a timing belt they have a chain. If the consumption test was done ask the owner how many miles to a quart does he get. If he is a friend he should tell you. I also suspect the turbo is near end of life . Look under the car and check for torn boots and loose parts. You're in high risk territory with that mileage . Look at the service slips to see what was done other then oil changes.
