2009 A4 2.0t prestige w/nav or 3.2 w/nav
Hello Board,
I'm new to Audi vehicles, but have been a fan of Audi's style for a long time. My wife and I just put a deposit on a 2009 A4 2.0t premium + w/nav. We just finished a 3 year lease on a Mercedes-Benz E350 Sport. We are worried about the A4's 2.0 turbo having enough power. We are thinking about getting the 3.2 w/nav to try and match the HP we had in the MB. Another option would be to use that money to upgrade the 2.0t to the prestige package.
Where should I spend the extra money, HP or watts?

I would definately stay with the 2.oT. even most of the car magazines say to save your money with the 2.ot over the 3.2. if you look at performanve numbers the 2.0T and the 3.2 are vey similiar, the 2.o has alot of low end torque whereas you will see the 3.2 more at higher speeds. The 3.2 will sound a little better due to the V6. I was faced with a similiar situation when ordering, I decided to go with the 2.oT with prestige and then added the S-LINE package in place of the extra money for the 3.2. s-line is well worth it and you get a very sweet interior upgrade. good luck. by the way ...you can chip the 2.oT fairly inexpensive and get a significant amount of extra HP/torque if you like

Thanks for the input 2009a4sline,
I was leaning towards the 2.0 with prestige, but I really like the dual exhaust look of the v6. I know, very superficial. I just wished they didn't go the route of BMW with the exhaust only on one side. My wife won't let me get any sports packages. She is trying to save money where we can. That's why talking her into upgrading to a V6 is easier then telling her I want a better sound system. Well, we should be picking up our A4 2.0t Prem Plus with Nav sometime this week. Waiting for it to be brought in from the docks. Not a lot of time to get the wife to change her mind.

Thanks PJC,
I think I found what I really wanted. A dual exhaust mod from STaSIS and maybe a chip to boost the HP/Torque. Not sure if I would be saving any money going this route. Maybe I will keep it stock for a while and just enjoy the ride.

As others have said, the 2.0T is close to the 3.2 in performance stock, and can easily be modded to outrun the V6. The chief advantage of the V6 is sound and feel. Even here the gap isn't what it used to be.
Overall, hard to justify the 3.2. Now the turbo six in the S4, that's another matter.

Sports package all the way, with them 18inch rims a 255/35 wide and low profile tires. it makes a lot of difference. + the 1.4 inches drop then default A4 setting is big enough of a difference.

The smaller turbo in the 2.0 will be quiker but you hit a wall at 90mph the v6 with a bigger turbo will suffer turbo lag and it will accelerate slower but over 700 mph the bigger turbo is neccassary to maintain...so get the 2.0 unless you plan to race it...in which case dont buy an audi
