Windshield Washer Fluid?
 

I've gotten to the point where I have to refill my washer fluid but the dealer said to use just water but I figured how could that be it would most likely freeze. So I read the manual it says to use distilled water and some type of glass cleaner, how should I mix that 50/50?

Why would you not want to just buy the blue stuff at a store for $1.19/gallon?

He said not to something about just adding water because the original stuff they put is so strong all you have to do is add water, now I'm not so sure..

I wouldn't add straight water (freezing nightmares). Having to pre-mix one's own washer fluid would be totally ridiculous, but I wouldn't put anything past these over-engineered German cars.

I dunno, I would follow the instructions in the manual. If it comes down to damage done, the dealership could always claim they never told you anything about using just water, whereas the manual is right there, documented in print. The manual was written by Audi. The salesman is most likely an idiot to begin with. I say manual over salesman.

So I bought some orange Rain-X bottle, a gallon I guess. When I looked at the ingredients it was like 65% de-ionized water, and 35% glass cleaner which is exactly what the manual called for! Thanks!

It smells so strong after its applied, I wonder what it actually is..

What on earth is the dealer on about "the original is so strong, just add water" You only have one reservoir so when the factory supplied fluid has gone, its all gone regardless of how strong it was.

You can use any of that cheap stuff that you get at the garages and dilute it as per the instructions on the bottle, 1:1 bad winter through to neat or 4:1 depending on the weather.

What you really need tho is ionised water as this stops the tubes getting full with gunk. When mine gets low I keep going until its empty and then flush some water through it and then use screen wash diluted with water. Ive been running BMW and Audis for years and always used this method. Never any problems.

Adding just water will mean it will freeze, mixing it with the screen wash changes the freezing point so it will work in all weathers, dont add just water. You can buy Audi branded screen wash at a price, but the cheaper stuff works just aswell. I find Ive been getting through a fair bit with this crazy snow we have had in the UK and it cleaning the Xenon/LED lights awell every 5th squrit
