2009 Audi A6 Model Highlights
 

The 2009 Audi RS6 sedan is an awesome competitor in the ever growing performance sedan market, but the MSRP, when released, will not likely be friendly to a great many enthusiasts. However, the recent release of the information about 2009 A6 sedan and avant (its like a station wagon for those who aren’t 100% sure) models, and while there are a handful of subtle changes, the most exciting news is the engine lineup.

There are eight engine options with five being gasoline powered and three running on diesel fuel. The “petrol” powered models start with a 170 horsepower 4 cylinder, then two 2.8L V6s making 190 and 220 horsepower, then a new supercharged 3.0L V6 making 290 horsepower, and the premium gasoline engine is the 4.2L V8 making 350 horsepower. The diesel options are a 2.7L or 3.0L turbo diesel V6s, but the big introduction is the new TDIe models. These models use a 2.0L 4-cylinder diesel engine along with some unique accessory setups to yield the best possible mileage (averaging around 44mpg), and when mated to a six-speed manual transmission, the TDIe runs from 0-60 in just over 10 seconds and hits a top speed of 129 miles per hour!

These engine options were all designed with an emphasis on fuel economy and lowered engine emissions, but these figures were to be reached without losing performance. Both the sedan and avant come with a sporty skin that is classy enough for a business meeting, with polished trim adding to the luxury aspect. The new A6 is expected to hit German showrooms in late 2008 with a US release date sometime afterwards.
