High Altitude Lag

Hello Audi Enthusiasts,
I'm new to Denver, CO and from Alabama, where I bought my '02 a4 avant quattro (automatic trans). Shortly after moving here, my fiancé and I noticed our vehicle did not accelerate off the line like it used to; or like almost any car should. Although I understand that fuel injected engines should make certain adjustments after changes in altitude, I'm still suspicious that the altitude and thinner air have something to do with this lag.
When starting off the line, we don't reach 3500 rpm until about a second and a half. Of course the turbo kicks in after about 2 seconds and the engine runs like the badass that it is. The engine does not rev or anything, the entire machine just moves slower than it should it seems.
Does anyone have any insight into changing altitudes and this engine?
Thanks!

Around 15% of the air is missing. The MAF and O2 sensors should tell the fuel injectors to use less fuel. You'll have less power.

Thanks Crazyhawk! So does anyone know of a chip or adjustment that can help this or just a non-fixable "problem"?
Again, thanks for the info.
