Default 1984 5000S - Poor performance when cold

Hey group,

My new (to me) 1984 5000s runs great, but is somewhat difficult to start and it will not idle by itself when cold. I assume it has some sort of fuel enrichment system to help with cold tems. Can anyone suggest what I can check to fix this? Thanks...

idle control valve ( idle air bypass valve ) clean it out, cold start injector going down or fuel system needs some cleaner through it or even fit new spark plugs.

The car has new rotor, dist. cap, plug wires and plugs. I cleaned the idle control valve. Is this valve supposed to let air in when the car's warmed up? When it's warm it idles fine, but unhooking the wire from the control valve does nothing. I now need to wait for the car to cool before testing the cold start injector. Where is the thermoswitch for this injector?

Check the engine coolant temperature sensor, I have seen a few of those contacts go green and give cold starting problems. Also check the throttle micro switch.

but unhooking the wire from the control valve does nothing check for battery voltage its an old problem and can be resolved by wiring a switched wire to it,
