1986 Audi Quattro 4000s

I have just aquired a 1986 Audi Quattro 4000s. The thing still runs like a charm, aside from a few minor things --- things I would like fixed never the less. The one thing that bugs me the most is the rough starting.

To start my audi I usually have to make a few attempts. It turns over for at least 10 seconds before it starts. I have found that if I pump the gas pedal while starting my Audi that it starts almost immediately.

Other than the rough start it has a leaky power steering system... (I can diagnose/fix that myself). It runs almost like a new car aside from these problems. It has been well taken care of over the years and maintained regularly.

If it is a turbo you need a new fuel accumulator

Smithkhan - to fix a stuck hood you need to unstick it!

OK - you need to give more info - - start with vehicle information

It's a 1986 Quattro, it has 274,000 miles on it. The car is not a turbo... it is a 4 cylinder

The specs are as follows: (The S not the CS model) --- The car is a stock, 4 door sedan.

The Audi has been regularly maintained, the timing belt was changed at 220,000 I believe. The cars battery is low, however this car has had this problem even when the battery was good. (The battery is low because my sister... the previous owner left the lights on and ran out the battary--- 4 times.).

As I said when I pump the gas on my Audi while it's turning over it starts.... but very roughly... The car shakes violently when it first starts up.

Sounds like the iac is sticking..
Get an Audi manual or do a search in the forums --

Additional tidbit of info: The Audi doesn't idle roughly... it only has a rough start. It is my understanding that the IAC usually affects idling as well.
