Do all 1991 80 quattros come with abs? Or was it an option only? I am getting conflicting information in a search.

What are the odds of finding one with abs?

Any tips on how to tell if it has abs or not? I am trying to do this over the phone with someone who knows nothing about cars. Do they all come with the abs switch on the dash or only the ones equipped? What about the light in the dash?

there should be a light in the dash board. when you turn the ignition on, it should light up for like half a minute and go away.
also under the hood there should be something like a box into which tubes form brake master cylinder goes into.
also now its cold, wet, snowy, icy let the person drive and slam the brakes hard, if they would feel a feedback into the brake pedal in a form of pulses, they have ABS.

 

oops, just brake very hard, not slam the brakes, my mistake. mine has ABS and yesterday I drove and it was snowy, I started to brake and felt huge feedback back into my leg. I got sckared first, couse car didnt want to stop, but then it did. after that I used engine break as help for stoping, helped a lot.

 

The 80Q was a stripped version of the 90Q so it is possible that it didn't come with ABS. And as kakorot said, look for the ABS pump.
