1993 4.2L V8 Quattro
I have a 1993 Quattro 4.2L V8 AWD which sat for over two years. Just replaced starter to get it running again - but since then it will only run for about 10-15 min before just "shutting down"...sometimes it is preceded by the high temp warning light and sometimes not...this morning removed & cleaned both fuel pump and fuel filter (lots of dirt in both)...but still stalled after the aforementioned 15 min...what do I look at next? Trying to do this myself because a) my local Audi dealer, Dave Strong of SLC, UT, refused to work on it - saying its' "pre-volkswagon" and b) mechanics in general have given me that "uh, er, it's a european car huh?" puzzled look followed by the standard "well, that's gonna cost ya" speech....help! (I need this car running!)

I don't know if that vehicle has an overheating protection system that shuts the engine down to avoid damage but if your car is overheating, or if the temp sensor is sending a signal that it is overheating that could be why you are have having troubles. Do you have a repair manual on the car to help you out?
