'84 5000S fuel pump
good day everyone. i'm new at this forum and fixing up my old audi as well. I have replaced my fuel pump for about 2 to three times, and i am getting frustrated with it already. After i replace a new one, i will be able to enjoy the car for a few weeks. if car has not beed started for about three days, the car is hard to start again, thus not start at all. fuel doesnt seem to reach fuel filter stage even if fuel tank is full or half way. checked if something wrong with electrical of the fuel pump but everything is ok.
can someone please help me with my dillema? is there something wrong with the fuel pump that i've been purchasing? i buy my pump online (drivewire, autopartswarehouse, etc) i get BOSCH 0 580 254 023. Is this the righht pump for my car? because i think i can not buy and replace fuel pump every other month. what seems to be the problem?

RE: '84 5000S fuel pump
check the fuel pressure ... you might have a bad chec valve that prevents the fuel from running back into the tank ... when the pump is not running .... the mushroom loking thing on top of the pump

thanks for your prompt reply...yeah thats the pressure damper but the bosch pumps that ive been ordering online says "pressure damper no longer required" so i assume that the mushroom looking is no longer needed. what do you think?
this link says that the bosch pump that he uses is defective and should convert to this smaller one. please see below:

well sound like you got a fuel pressure problem for one reason or another .... so check all the fuel lines , injectors, filters ... look inside the gas tank to see if you got crud there ... search the fourum for leaky injectors
