Antenna problems, possibly
Anyone have an idea of how to remove the "D" pillar trim from a '90 Audi 100? The rearmost pillar that covers the antenna amplifier? No fasteners evident, but don't want to just yank it off. Might break off some snap lock tabs.
Really bad AM reception, with the engine running, pull off the AM connector, no change, want to check the coax from there, as well as whether it is getting 12V, as I don't think my rear defroster is working, either, at least I don't recall that it melted ice very well, if at all, this past winter.
All fuses check out OK, with test light, as well as visually.
Cheers,
George

Redgoat,
Thanks. Took so long to get an answer, just went out the other day and started pulling at it. Came off easily enough, went back on, too.
No help, though. Have power, have antenna continuity, have also cleaned the hell out of the traces on the window, no help.
Thing that gets me is that with engine off, it plays clearly, indication of ignition interference or bad filter or maybe a bad ground, somewhere. Audi dealer says no types of filters, my mechanic says engine runs smoothly, indication of good ignition wires ( about 75 bucks the cheapest I have found, hate to spend that if the wires are OK.)
Ah, well, listen to FM when driving, AM when parked.
Cheers,
George
