Default ‘80 5000 owner introduction

Hi guys, I have a 1980 5000S and my power windows are all on the Fritz, occasionally work, except when you need them most.
The Bentley shows an exploded view of the motor/regulator assembly but no written procedures, so first I’m hoping someone can tell me if the motor can be removed independent of the mechanism.
And once off, has anyone had success rebuild/cleaning contacts or otherwise making them work again?

Default One window fixed!

Ok, I dove into the right front window and it went much smoother than expected. I recall that the guides were dry and the window was super slow but did go all the way up, but did not work after that. Removing the motor was much easier than I expected it to be, just three 10mm bolts and it was off. So upon disassembly I noticed that part of the plastic motor cover was melted. It was difficult to remove because the plastic had melted into the armature. Now with the cover off, it worked fine! What happen was the friction of the glass in the guide and extra effort closing had melted the cover and the melted plastic was fused to the motor armature, once I cut off the offending plastic I was able to reassemble it, lube the window guides and voila!
On to the rear windows!
