Default Audi 80/90 manual tranny swap?

Hi, Audi newb and Audi Forum newb, but I'm one of the biggest car guys and biggest car message board guys around.

I just acquired an '88 Audi 90. 118K original miles, really in great condition... well except a bad auto tranny and a fuel leak from under the middle of the vehicle.

I've got 2 Audi 80s here in the pick-n-pull junk yard with manual trannys. I want to do an auto-manual swap on my 90. Been done, any links here on the forum?

Right off the bat I think:
-tranny
-flywheel, new clutch
-axles? hubs?
-clutch pedal assembly.--Can it be put on alone or do I have to swap out the whole clutch/brake/gas assembly?
-Master cylinder, slave cylinder, hydraulic line--(its a hydraulic clutch, right?)
-I'll see how the shifter connects but that whole assembly to be bolted in/linkage to connect to tranny/etc
--Anything have to be done electronically so that everything will always work fine now being a manual, think its always in park so it will start? Clutch switch needed, etc?

...if anyone can help with questions, thanks.

The 80/90 tranny will bolt up to either right? What's the difference between the 80/90 anyway? How did the distribution of auto/manual trannys go between the two?

Gonna give me a difference in gear ratios, performance?

I had a Porsche 924 turbo with this little slant 4 engine, mechanical fuel distributor, etc. Hey anyone ever mate up a 924 turbo motor with the Quattro tranny? (You know VW was with Porsche making that car, was gonna come out as a VW model too but didn't, used the VW block and a Porsche head on the 924 Turbo.) I'm the AWD Turbo fan really, owned a lot of different ones.

-Taj

Good idea, two things.

I can write a full write up on the auto-manual swap.

I can pull an extra tranny and parts from the 2nd car in the junk yard and sell it online to someone to make some extra cash, complete conversion package.

The 80 usually had a 4-cyl and some had 5-cyl motors, 90 models came with a 5-cyl. The 5-cyl mates with a 016 gearbox, the 4-cyl uses a different gear box, don’t remember if it was 013 or something else. Besides all the stuff you mentioned there might be a difference in transmission mounts/sub-frame and possibly exhaust. Brake Vacuum is another thing to check since some used a central hydraulic system others vacuum booster. I think that the Ignition control box might also be curved differently.

Well my 90 has a 4 cylinder not a 5 cylinder, can you explain that? To me only means good, will mate up with those 80 trannys. I don't see how brake vacuum or ignition control would have to be touched on a tranny swap, just leave whats in my car now (unless interfering with where the tranny actually sits). Even if mounts/sub-frame/exhaust had to be altered to do it, I'd be doing it. What size is that 4 cylinder?

lets work with the tranny only difference is the clutch and flywheel cable/hydraulic plus the obvious like an extra peddle, the 4 cylinder box is no good for the 20v
