20v turbo!!
mmmmmhhhhmmmm!

but be ready to pony up some $$$$$$$$$$

but engine swaps aren’tnecessarily a solution to a no start problem

and ps
dont think that your engine is shit, and needs to go cause it dosent start here and there, just get it fixed, those 10vt's despite being CIS are awesome motors, thats why one is in my 4kq!

Yeayea. Well I bought the car for 1800 and have to fix : the steering rack, brakes, and now the engine. I have 1400 in the bank and Id rather have an engine I"d rather worry about that stuff rather than the engine which was running good until two days ago....

20V sounds like a good idea, but Im looking into possibilities and costs.

How much would a 20V swap go for ? Or any other engine ?

don't do something stupid -- The 10 and 20V 5 cylinder motors are bullet proof. It is usually the vacuum lines and electrics that get to the vehicle. I got 350K on my 89 200QT before finally giving in to the many little problems -- none of which were the motor. It would travel all day at 85-90 mph and get 25 mpg... rock solid --- and smooth as glass... Damn I wish I still had that car!!!

Unless it's 1400 pounds of some precious metal you won't be buying any Audi engines. Better use that money to fix the existing problems, you may have just enough left over at Audi prices for a Venti Chai Tea Latte at the Mermaid's place :-)
2Bennett Audimotive in Davis California does at least one such turbo conversion each month. They have the process down to a science. The job requires serious metal cutting and fabrication to make room for the turbo and intercooler. Even one steering linkage has to be custom made to loop underneath the turbo. They require 100 hours of labor to do the job. You have to find an engine. Expect to spend $12,000-$15,000 all together.
The more interesting conversion I have seen with my own eyes costs around $4500. The same shop makes a custom engine cradle and installs a used Audi 4.2 l V-8. This engine weighs 75 pounds less than the five bangers and makes 300 hp. They are finishing up a Coupe GT right now. Start saving your pennies, I am. Oh, keep in mind you have to get the car by the smog referee after any conversion or you will never be able to register your car.
