New fuel filter question and TB o ring question...
 

hey guys.. I never replaced a fuel filter before so dont laugh :p... Is it pretty cut and dry? Just undo the old one and put new one in? I didn't know if the system is under pressure or anything.. or if i should have less than 1/4 of a tank or what before i attempt anything. I just wanted to ask to be on the safe side.

Also, after reading on 20v.org about the o ring that goes around? the TB idle adjustment screw... does it go behind the screw? Or is it embeded deeper into the hole of the screw? Is it just some reg rubber o ring? I am pretty sure that is my vac leak and the source of my idle probs.. I need to fix that before messing with idle again.

Another thing.. I got new lights for the inst cluster.. now.. do i HAVE to take the steering wheel off? (I dont have an airbag by the way). Can i put new bulbs in after unplugging the 2 harnesses from behind it and tilting it toward me? I would like to avoid taking the steering wheel off if i can.. but if any of you have done this by either taking off the wheel or not taking it off, pls let me know and advise me if possible..

the fuel filter is always wet, there is always fuel left inside and when you take it off it splashies out.

ins cluster you do not need to take the wheel off, just remove the cover over the stering column, top one. the unscrew two screws that hold cluster, then pull it out, put you hand in and disconect cluster. and wigle out the cluster. done.

when you put new O ring put some oilsish smoichish stuff on it, or just oil it so it be smoth. a small tip. :-)

Let the car sit a few hours since residual pressure can last over an hour. Keep a rag handy to soak up any spills, a fire extinguisher close by is a good idea and don't forget to keep the area well ventilated.

thanks for the info guys. Doesn't sound too complex.. thats good :) Its prob been YEARS since the fuel filter was last changed out. Oil up the o ring.. that sounds like a good idea to me. I think that will at least fix my weird idle prob.. and then i can adjust it so the engine brake isnt so bad in first gear. I still think the clutch needs adjusted or its starting to go bad... but thats gotta wait for now. Thanks for the info :) !!!
