Wonder Car 2.6 V6
I have a '98 2.6 V6 Cab. ( I have 5 Cabs altogether so I know a little of them).
A few years ago the cam belt failed and I had to fit a new engine. I got an engine from a breaker's yard and a friend of mine who is an Audi mechanic of many years experience, fitted the engine for me.
The engine originally came from an automatic and my cab is a manual but he was able to resolve this issue.
A few months ago I started to use the car and drove up to Burnley (from London) a few times. I was surprised to get an MPG of 41 without really trying. A friend said "that's not possible, check the specs" which I did to find that the official MPG for my car (according to Parkers) is 25-27MPG.
I drove to Oxford and back filling my tank, noting the mileage travelled and then refilling at the end of the journey. I was in a hurry so I didn't dawdle. 28MPG !
I drove again to Oxford and back and drove more carefully (sticking to a max of 60-65mph), again filling up, noting the total mileage and refilling at the end of the trip.
105.4 miles using 10.74 litres. 44.5MPG. You do the math.
I am not complaining, I am just amazed.
Does anybody have any ideas about this stunning performance ?????
If I have screwed up my calculations I apologise.
