A6 2.8 hard start after it sits
2000 A6 Quattro 2.8, 167K automatic.
When the car sits overnight or after a work shift, it cranks fine, but I have to press the gas pedal a few times while cranking it to get it to start. Once started it misfires a little and sputter's then clears itself out. No black smoke from tailpipe. Once it starts, it's fine driving it and starts right up. I can hear the pump turn on, I have a strong battery, no smell of gas from outside or under the hood, Happens when temp outside is cold or warm. CEL -P0441 EVAP emission control system flow fault P0117 engine coolan temp circuit low input I read it could be the check valve that's built into the fuel pump, or maybe the small o ring on the FPR leaking. Any thoughts? |
Replace the coolant temp sensor. If the ecm does not receive the correct info it does not what temp the engine is & will deliver the incorrect amount of fuel.
Use ony dealer parts , replace the sensor , o-ring & clip. |
Thanks for the info. I did just that and it worked; but now I have another issue. While doing the repair I broke the clip connector that the pigtail attaches to the sensor. Now the electrical connector wont' stay tight to the sensor and is coming undone. I am able to find a new connector pn# 4B0973712 but it has no wires attached. How to I get the wires didsconnected from the connector end so I can install the new one?
