Audi A6 Oil Sensor Indicator
Hey guys
2006 Audi A6 2.0TDI Avant Manual
I keep getting the oil light coming on when the dipstick indicates that the oil level is bang in the middle. If I top it up a little bit the noise goes away for about a month and then returns each time I start the friggin car.
I had issues with my old Golf GT TDI too with the same engine, except that problem was I filled the oil up to max and as a result blew a gasket on the turbo - so I kind of do not want a repeat of that particular repair!
Is this common? Should I just shut up and top up?

Oil pressure levels must be constantly monitored to ensure that your car's engine is well lubricated. With the help of the oil pressure sensor connected to the meter, you can easily monitor any changes in the pressure of its oil.

The oil sensor warning is apparently indicating that the control module has lost contact with the sensor...no signal, good or bad.
It may not be possible to fake a low oil warning signal, since it's a thermal oil level switch (and if control unit has lost touch with the sensor?).
