Default (blown) fuel pump

i was driving my 97 a4 1.8 last night around and it hit this long road and i decided to step on the gas... next thing you know when im shifting down to second gear at 7k rpm my car turns off and it wont start anymore. My friend came and pulled the car and when i got home i checked my fuses and it showed that my fuel pump fuse and my enging timming fuse were gone.So i replaced them and it seem to be working fine..... any one knows y this happend ??? and wil it keep happening if i step on the gas ????? plz if some one knows tell me

might be a shot in the dark, but i suspect that during your acceleration, the alternator sent too much tension to the battery and since the battery had too much tension in the system it caused your fuses to blow. But then again...im not sure 100%.

I have to check the wiring diagrams to see what could cause this.
