Camshaft Sensor?

Hey there, Audi Forum! Glad to be a part of the community, I just joined. *Pauses for applause* ...Ahem. To the point then. I'm interested in purchasing a 1999 Audi A4 Quattro 2.8 from a nice fellow on Craigslist (DUN DUN DUUUUNNN). According to him it needs a new Camshaft Sensor. So, I have a few questions.

1. How much does that specific part cost? Although I've looked online, I want a personal recommendation from one of you guys on a part that will not have any compatibility issues with the car.

2. How difficult would it be to repair myself?

3. (Dumb question, I'm not exceptionally car savvy.) Is a car able to run and drive with a sensor needing to be replace? If so, is it something that you don't have to immediately replace?

4. What exactly does a bad camshift sensor mean for the car? Basically, what are the symptoms of that cars sensoritis?

I think that's all for now. I appreciate your responses in advance. Again, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your community and I hope to join you guys in owning an Audi of my own very soon.

Thanks ~ Cody
