Exclamation Airbag light, VAG-COM not communicating

Hello,
So I am in Germany right now, I don't speak German making navigating car repairs difficult. But I have an Audi TT 2001 Quattro. 180hp, and the Airbag light has been on for awhile now. At first it was off and on. I would turns the car on and boom there it was. That night it was gone, unfortunately it is staying on now. I unplugged my battery and cleaned out the connector under the seat. When I took the Airbag module to the shop so they could reset it, they wouldn't lend me it on base, it came back as not being able to communicate. They said take it to the dealer but I know that is going to be all the money I don't have. Everything runs fine, to the best of my knowledge. Earlier I had the airbag code 65535, and a engine running lean code. Help as soon as possible would be greatly appreciated, I have about 2 weeks until my temp registration run out.

If you have a laptop and access to ebay it may be worth buying a cheap obdII diagnostic cable for vag com, then download the latest free version of vag com (VCDS lite)

This version can clear the trouble code if you poll the airbag controller (via the car,not separately)

I have no knowledge of the 'not communicating' problem you mentioned but as far as I am aware you can only clear the airbag fault code (and light) using VCDS (vag com).

OBDII ELM and phone app will not see it, nor clear it. Must be vag com and appropriate cable (ftdi OBDII)

HTH sorry I can't help much further, unless you need help setting it up.

edit: sorry I should have paid attention, you said it was vag com not communicating (duh) sorry bud.
Guess my advice isn't much use with that.

Default Airbag "no response from controller"

Audi A4 B5 1.8T 1997

Old thread but still valid
I have exaclity the same problem. Airbag light came on due to front seat removal.
And now I can't get it OFF.
I have tried VCDS lite with cheap ebay VAG KKL cable.
I CAN READ/CLEAR engine, ABS, Aircon errors.

BUT when I try to read Airbag, only ""no response from controller" appears.

What to do? Is the Airbag controller itself faulty??
