1997 black audi detailing help
 

Hey guys

i have a black 1997 audi cabriolet in perfect shape i wax it every 2-3 weeks and it pretty much flawless but its an older paint with the very minor surface marks. would anyone recommend a certain product for waxing, clay bar, or anything of that matter thanks so much.

AutoGlym Polish and Wax I use this stuff regularly on my Mazda and love it.

You can apply it in hot weather and it comes off effortlessly and fantastic results.

If you have some surface marks (I asume some water spots and swirls), I'd wash the car thoroughly, clay it, use a light to medium polish followed by a finishing glaze and a coat of wax or sealant. For clay, I'd recommend Adams, Wolfgang, or Pinnacle. For a light polish, I'd say Pinnacle XMT #1. If a medium polish is needed, I'd say either Pinnacle XMT #3 or Adam's Swirl and Haze Remover. Pinnacle XMT Carnauba Finishing Glaze works superbly to fill in any imperfections that the polish doesn't get totally out, and as for wax or sealant, whatever you choos so long as it's not a cleaner wax/all in one product.

You'll have the best results with the polishes if you use a machine polisher like a Porter Cable 7424 or Flex 3401 with the appropriate foam polishing pads. If you're hand polishing, you'll see some improvement, but you won't get absolutely perfect paint.

If you have scratches and crap from over the years, I would hit it with a heavy compound (you need to use a buffer). After a couple rounds with the heavy compound move to a medium compound. After 1-2 hits of that the scratches should be mostly gone. Then take a medium duty glaze, run over the whole car with it. Then a wax of your choice. Your car will look like brand new. Also, don't be afraid to hit your headlights with the compound then some glaze. You will love the results.
