I am new to the forum and new to Audi. I just purchased my first Audi last week. I have a question about detailing. I will be washing it for the first time tomorrow. When will I need to wax the car for the first time? I was planning on a wash using Megs Gold Class Shampoo and dry it using Megs Quick wax. This car should not be clayed until about 6 months from now right? When I brought the car home the paint felt like glass and have seen suffecient beading during a small rain.


When do yall wax for the first time on a new car?

Any suggestions for keeping this thing looking good is appreciated

 

When people ask me this question my reply is "How long did your grandparents wait until they covered the new sofa with plastic?" They put the plastic on right away because of the protection. The same goes for coating your new cars paint. I just detailed a 2012 Accord with 2500 miles on it that already had a bird dropping etched in the clear coat on the hood. If the car had some protection it might have not etched the clear or at least reduced the etching. So my answer is wax right away. I would also clay the car as well. If the paint feels smooth already just use a mild clay. This is will insure the paint is free of contamination before you wax the car or seal it. Good luck
