Gray looking tires
I just had new tires installed and didn't think anything of it at the time but now they seem to have a gray look to them around the wheels . I just rubbed them with water to see if it was dirt but there was no dirty residue on the rag and when the water evaporated the wheel seems the same gray color again. What could be the reason???? I may call the dealer in the morning to see what they have to say about this! Shouldn't they be pure black....
well new tires undergo an initial temporary process of discoloration shortly after being installed and used. On white-lettered tires, the letters tend to become blue when new then return to their original pre-installation look in a few days to a week. Im pretty sure, this is also what is happening to your tires.
Thank you for your help, TiredOldMan. That is basically what my Audi dealer told me this morning. I showed up and became the customer from hell I'm sure.
As far as spraying or applying anything to the tire I think some of those products have alcohol in them and may dry the tires in the long run....be careful what you use....check out autogeek.com, great site....
