i hate tree sap.... My parking spot is right under a Walnut tree that produces a shower of sap every day for my car. The best way to get it off is simply scrubbing w/ a soft sponge and a good soap. Sometimes dish soap works well for cars since its more of a degreaser then normal car soap but it will likely take all your wax off too. Takes me about an hour or more to wash my car after a shower of soap... Then more time waxing.

Rubbing alcohol takes it right off. I can't speak to the effects of the alcohol on the wax or clearcoat, but if you cover sap with a paper towel wet with rubbing alcohol for a minute, it will come right off.
