Tools:
- Heat gun or hair dryer
- Goo Gone® or another paint friendly glue remover.
- Dental Floss, fishing line, or twine.
- Paper towel or cloth (whatever you would use to dry your car)
- Something to scrape excess glue off paint ( I used my finger nail, it scratched the paint a little, you might want to try something better)
Steps:
1) Heat the badge up so the metal is hot and you can wiggle the badge around a little.
2) Squirt a little Goo Gone into the back of the badge. Beware the air from the hair dryer will spread the Goo Gone out.
3) Take the floss and floss behind the badge, sawing away at the sponge tape behind it. Do this and repeat heating or applying Goo Gone if necessary.
4) Ok, you have your badge off. There will be excess tape stuck onto the paint. I did the job with one person, but it would be much easier with 2. Have someone hold the heat gun pointing at the remaining sponge tape (I used a razor blade to take off the top layer, but I do not recommend it, you do not want to score your paint) . Using repeated application of heat and Goo Gone, scrape away all of the remaining glue. This is what takes the most time, go slow and don’t scratch your paint! I noticed it came off easiest when warm and saturated with Goo Gone.
5) You’re done

Notes: I performed this when it was 20ºF, I recommend you do it when its warm, it will be much easier. Also have someone who can hold the heat gun at the badge while you work.
