DIY - A4 B6 1.8t Easy Motor Mount Replacement
7 Attachment(s)
I'm writing this DIY because there is an easier way than messing with the strut bar and that whole mess. Unfortunately I have come to realize that this method only works with k03 and k04 turbos the larger ones will be the hard way.
This write up is to help inform I am in no way responsible for any damage done by an improper job. When in doubt have the professional help you out. Total Time: 1.5 hours on a scale 1-10 : 3 Attachment 28312 List of tools -Philips head screw driver -6mm allen socket or key -3\8 ratchet -3\8 swivel -13mm socket deep -13mm socket short -3\8 extension -jack stands -jack First Jack the car up on the stands unless your a small person lol. The next thing is to remove the top of the air filter box Attachment 28313 It should be two bolts a hose up top the air box to turbo tube and what i believe to be the circulation tube from the diverter valve. Once you remove the air box pull back the turbo heat shield out of the way tell you can see the bolt. Attachment 28314 Next up remove the one bolt for the coolant reservoir be sure to unplug the sensor on the bottom of the tank before you move it out of the way Attachment 28315 You should be in clear view of both top mount bolts now Attachment 28316 Start with the short 13 on the swivel with enough extensions to reach the factory mount bolts should be short. Drivers side first then passengers side. Next we go to the bottom of the car and undo the motor mount bolts, don't matter which side first. Attachment 28317 Last before you pull out the mounts remove the three allen bolts, bolting the snub mount to the engine. Attachment 28318 Next jack up the engine carful to not smash any sensors. Go jus high enough to pull the mounts out from the bottom of the car. I Put cardboard between the jack and the motor sry no pics i wanted to do this right so I didn't have time. I used a pry bar to guide the motor back on to the mounts Important tighten all motor mounts hand tight turn on the engine so it settles then finish tightening Bend back all heat shields and pueverything back and enjoy a beer preferably German. |
