Troubleshooting my 99 Passat (JVC radio, hardly any FM, no AM), I heard/read about "FERN". Triggered that I don't have any AM reception on my A4 stock radio.

Can someone point me towards instructions
- for the radio
- with VAGcom

to do a diagnostic (something about FERN ON/OFF, amplified antenna, etc.)
