2005 A4 3.0 won't start
 

Hello all,
I have a 2005 audi a4 that won't start. Brief history: Had vehicle towed to dealership for lost key replacement and program. Dealer replaced key and said needed new switch to program. new switch installed, key programmed and vehicle starts but shuts off immediately. Dealership said needed to replace instrument cluster. Cluster replaced with same results. Dealership claims they contacted Germany to have them reprogram vehicle. Same results. Dealership now says someone damaged programming and to get vehicle running, will need to essentially re-ID vehicle by replacing all door cylinders, instrument cluster, computer, ignition, key, etc., estimated over $7000.00 USD plus labor. Question: is anyone familiar with this process? Are there other alternatives? Is it best to place vehicle in its current state on craigslist, etc.? Thanks in advance for any suggestions, solutions.
