A3 AMI Question

I just purchased a 2007 A3 2.0 for my newly licensed son. It has the Concert II+ radio, and has the Technology Package which includes Bluetooth. It does not have an iPod adapter, but I can see the location in the glove box where the AMI cable would come through.

So, to my question...is the AMI interface part of the radio? I see a variety of cables for sale but I have never seen what the AMI end plugs into. It would be nice if this "just worked", but I am assuming that there is more to it than just purchasing the cable, fishing it into the glove box and plugging it into the radio chassis.

BTW, the parts guy at my dealership suggested that all I needed was the cable with the Audi part number of 4F0051510K. I didn't get any other info from him

Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Got you covered! Check out this link to show you what it takes.

Radios from that generation require modules to add equipment. Very very simple to put in though. Try crutchfield, they generally give you the radio removal tools along with the module.

Awesome, thanks much! Since I have to add hardware, I may just go for one if the single DIN navigation radios. I'm always concerned about compatibility with Audis and aftermarket radios, steering wheel control harnesses, etc. Hate to have to buy a VAG-COM to get things working!

Agree that Crutchfield is the way to go. I've had great experiences with them in the past.

you wouldnt have to get a vagcom to get anything to work. there are modules for that.
