Thumbs down A3 XM Tuner Install

I have seen some posts that include directions on installing the tuner in an A3, but the link for those instructions are all dead. So, here is the deal...The dealership gave me (yep, for free) an XM tuner he had sitting under the counter that he "thinks" will work in my car.

I have a 2007 A3. The tuner is: 4E0 035 593 A. I have audi concert stereo (no nav).

I found the connectors under the passenger kick plate without a problem. When I go to install the tuner in the back I see 2 rectangular connections (one is 8 pin and one is 2 pin) and one green connection. Only the 8 pin connector will fit into the tuner along with the green round connector. The other rectangular connector will not fit (and pins don't match up) to the other spot on the tuner.

So, with just those two connection on the tuner I get "No Sat Radio" message on the radio. Any ideas? Do I have the right unit? What do I need to do?

Please don't refer me to the same dead instruction link I keep seeing all over. On that link it says the word press space no longer exists. Thanks in advance for your help. It will be greatly appreciated.

The XM receiver you got is from an A8 -- you can tell by the first 2 digits (4E is the chassis code for 1992-2004 A8s). It may or may not work in your A3 (chassis code 8P).

There may be a couple of bits you need to tweak in VCDS to tell the system you've installed a digital radio; it should be fairly simple albeit tedious to find/tweak them. AudiForum.us has a lot of expertise at Audi retrofits; it may be worth a look over there.
