Default A6 Concert stereo model # Question??? with picture

Hello everyone.

My concert stereo has gone the way of most by the sound of it and now has a very loud volume. It is too expensive to send it to the UK to fix [i'm in NZ] what with the exchange rate etc.

My question is this:

My stereo number is 4B0 035 186 D& this is connected to the factory CD changer. [the botttom 2 pics] The only replacement stereo that i can find is model # 4B0 035 186 A[the top pic] & this has two different buttons on it. Is this compatable in the sense that I can plug in the CD changer or do I need to get the D model stereo?

Many Thanks in advance. No one here has ever heard of the stereo problem - the Audi service center here said an exchenge stereo would cost $800.00 !!!!!!

I have a stock radio from an a6 for sale and I can see if it is the same. You will still need the code from the dealership though.

No, unfortunately I have the" A "radio as well. However your problem could be in the factory amplifiers. What year a6 do you have? The bose amplifier system should be in a factory subwoofer enclosure in the passenger side compartment in the trunk. That's where I would look first.

Thanks for your quick reply.

A6 2001

It is the Blaupunkt stereo made in Portugal. It is the volume control, in the fact that it will be ok for a little while but if you even "look" at the **** the volume goes really loud and I am unable to turn it down. Apparently this is a known fault with this stereo.

No it doesn't have a control on the dtreing wheel. It is an A6 - I think I need to get a new one - but i'm not sure that that one in the picture above will be compatable - that is my question - can anyone help me?
