Default CD Changer Pre-Wiring

I have my 2000 A6 2.7T and I'm thinking of getting an iceLink wire to connect to the CD changer pre-wiring in the trunk as opposed to removing the head unit.
I've poked around quite a bit and I don't see the round connector plug anywhere. It's not behind the navigation system either.

You guys are all great by the way.

I think you'll find it easier to go with the one that connects to the back of the head unit -- unless you plan on putting the iPod in the back seat. The problem with the one that connects in the trunk is that you've got to run the cables all the way up to the center console -- a pretty tricky maneuver. Removing the head unit is really not all that hard. Check out the link in my sig to the DIY article I posted on this. Feel free to email me if you have questions.

Good luck!

Isn't it just one cable though? From what I was told by the guys at enfig, the cable is long enough to reach the center console, which is where I want to keep it, I'm not too keen on aesthetics.

Is the cable hidden or taped down somewhere that I can't see?

You may want to do a search here and/or at AudiWorld.com for somebody who has done this. The DIY I worte on this (see my sig) is also posted at AudiWorld as a Tech Article (under the "Resources" menu). In that posting, I link to some other articles that may have a description of the routing necessary from the trunk. While I don't know exactly where, I know I did see an article on this and I can tell you, it was harder than what I did removing the head unit. I was originally thinking of going with the trunk connector (seemed to make sense since it was just sitting there) but opted to go with the front and have NO regrets. As I said, removing the head unit is really not a big deal. If you go with the docking cradle (as I did), you need to remove the head unit to attach the bracket I used to mount the cradle anyway.
