Head Unit Wiring Harness

I have a 2003 A4 1.8t Quattro with the Bose premium sound pkg. I have installed a sub and amp in the car, but I cannot find a wiring harness to swap out the stock cd changer. I have a Single DIN pioneer CD player and dash kit waiting at the house. I have purchased 2 different harnesses and neither of them have been close to right. I purchased the Metra 70-1787 from sonicelectronix.com first. After that wouldn't work, they sent me the other one that 'fit' my car and it also didnt work. I have not been able to find anything on the forums or through searching on this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

check out crutchfield.com they're good for having the right parts. use the "outfit my car" thing and you can select what your car has stock to help determine proper equipment

Thanks for the suggestion. But I have also ordered this one from crutchfield, http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1207017...s.html?tp=2977 and it also didn't fit. Any other ideas?

hmmm.... well, that was my only suggestion. now i'm stumped... maybe try asking best buy? or a local car stereo shop?

I took it to a local audio shop and they directed me to the Crutchfield harness. I told them that didnt work and they basically said that was their only option. I am not sure where to go next. The existing wiring in the car appears to be stock, but the harnesses that I order are not even close to working. The search will go on and I will update this after I find my next step.

i had the same issue with my b7 with bose symphony. ordered up a different harness that plugs strait in, but now the rear speakers and sub dont work. its a journey to install a damn aftermarket head unit yourself without paying an arm and a leg to get it installed lol. this is the only car to give me trouble...

Yeah. I've been through like 3 different harnesses now and a couple places telling me "We have no other suggestions." Its just getting to be a real nightmare. I have my sub ran through the factory sub right now and when it hits it makes my CD player skip. So I have to run the iPod through the tape deck if I want to have the stereo turned up at all. Itd be nice to get a CD player in that can absorb the vibrations. I'll keep this post updated with my findings. Hopefully I can find one soon!!!

I'm having this issue putting in a Kenwood KDC-248U I just gave up I'm afraid to touch the wires that don't fit into my harness so the guys at geeksquad are doing it for me it only cost $50 at a best buy
