installng Satellite (XM) radio 2006 A6

I just bought a 2006 A6, with NAV, but no technology package. Unfortunately, it does not have XM radio installed, which I have come to depend on since I got an aftermarket receiver installed in my 2001 A6 (giving to the kid).

There is a switch for SAT radio on the band button on the MMI, and Satellite is dulled out (but potentially available). I am purchasing the XM module on Ebay (allegedly $175 new in factory seal), and the forums seem to say it is a DIY installation.

However, when I opened the door in the trunk, and verified that the cables are in fact there, tied up w/ foam and ready for installation, I was intimidated by the metal drawer frame, with some type of module on top (now holding the NAV and AM/FM radio, with an empty slot on the bottom), that needs to be removed to gain access to the rear of the unit. Is this difficult to remove? and how does one go about doing it. The Audi dealer wants $175 for the installation, which seems a bit much. Also, do I need to move the CANbus plug behind the front passenger door trim?

Any help and instruction would be appreciated. The A4 instructions on this and other forums have a different frame body. This seems like more work than just removing 2 screws.

fiber optic loop

So, I've got the XM tunerfor my 2006 A6, nav, MMI; I've unclipped the cables, 3 of them snap into the radio, but one cable is a fiber optic loop, a big plastic silver dollar sized "O" ring that has a wire running through it on a track. How does this snap into the receiver?
