Odometer resets to zero when car starts
 

Any ideas why this is happening? I know my cluster is going since the fuel gauge will jump from reading properly to empty and my temp guage will go to over heating to normal when you tap on it but the odometer going to zero when I start my car is new.

It's a 2000 TT I appreciate any insight.
