Radar detector install on 2001 A4
I am attempting to install my Valentine One radar detector in my A4. When I pull the panel down from the roof, I can not seem to find a switched power lead to use. All the leads seem to be hot constantly. There are a few leads in a block that go to the lighting that are switched but the voltage isnt sufficent to power the V1. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

i hardwired my right dome light to my radar detector and now everytime i get buzzed the light flashes in sync with the buzzer which is pretty cool cause i hate that annoying noise. now i can just keep it on silent and the light gets my attention right awway especialy at night

Can you please give me some more specifics? Does the detector power off when you lock the car? If so this would work for me, do you know which wire or to where you connected your power lead for the detector?
Thanks in advance.

No the detector doesnt turn off when you lock the car but it works for me
Ive left my car for 2 weeks at a time and no dead battery
Do you have a Volt tester you know the pointy thing with a light on the end?

I tried the howto for going to the sunroof switched lead but i didn't have one.
I ended up just making life easy on myself and going to the fuse box on the left using one of those faux-fuses that plugs in and piggybacks. Then i ran the wire up the tower, tucked it in and things were fine.
good luck
