Stock Audio Question
Has anyone ever run into the issue of a speaker only working when the volume is cranked? I have an '02 A4 w/ the Bose unit and the left front speaker only works if I crank the volume to 13-14+. It will come in and out around 11-12. Anything lower and the speaker is simply off. The dealership says I need to replace the speaker. I tell them they are not properly diagnosing the problem. Thoughts?
had to say with out looking into it but yea problem like that is not the speaker unless you hear some wierd noises form it at the lower volumes. but if its dead silent then comes on, there is probably a amp problem with the factory amp, thats where i would start.
Im experienceg the same exact problem with my AUDI A4 1.8t 2002... AUDI symphony sound system as well.. front left.. even when it's cranked it doesn't come on though and some of the speakers seem to go half and full perforamce throughout the ride..
Also it seems like I dont hear **** in my car until its cranked to about 15..

I have the same problem in my '02 A4 (Symphony, non-Bose). Left front speaker (and sometimes right front) don't work until I crank the volume for a few seconds. Apparently it's a common problem and it's in the wiring. Someday when I have time (and when the weather's a bit cooler) I'll run new wires from the headunit to the door speakers and see if that helps.
