swapping 2 wires in tail lights? (B5 A4)

I need anyone who knows anything about electronics and wiring to help me out here.

Basically I need to swap the yellow and white wires. the yellow one controls the blinker bulb and the white controls the reverse light bulb.

What happens is when I go in reverse the blinker lights light up instead of the reverse light, and when i turn the blinker on the reverse light is whats blinking instead. Everything else works fine though.

I just want to know HOW to swap the locations of those wires. ive read that on some lights you can just snap the little contraption holding them in order open and move them wherever. In this one, it doesnt open, and it looks like they have been glued in place. is there any way to melt the glue and swap them, or is there more to it?
