Asking around, I've heard mixed messages about the Audi autobahn plastic paint protective coverings. Personally, I think they are a bit over priced; however, I wonder if anyone here who has either of the packages or knows of it might comment? 3M makes a version of this - how is Audi's any different or better? Are there alternatives that are just as effective?

Someone suggested they yellow over time and dirt gets caught up in the edges of the application. Yuck.

I'm also concerned about the light lenses -- those can also become "fogged" because of exterior damage from rocks, etc. I don't think there's much you can do for the windshield... those just need to be replaced when they get to many pock marks.

I live in New England, where rock salt and sand are common on the roads in the winter.
